There’s nothing quite as refreshing on a hot Summer day than a nice, ice cold glass of lemonade.

A TikTok content creator has gone viral thanks to his take on the classic drink – which according to fans, gives it an “amazing colour”.

Jacob King described his simple recipe, which gathered more than 2.3million views, as: “A deliciously fruity summer drink that is super easy to make and much better than anything you can buy in the shops.”

Ingredients

For the lemon base

Six large lemons (remove zest from 3)

1/3 cup sugar

For the strawberry base

250g strawberries (topped)

1/3 cup sugar

One cup water

Between 1 to 2 litres sparkling water

Instructions

Start by washing and drying the fruits thoroughly.

For the lemon base: Grate the zest from three lemons and extract their juice using a lemon squeezer or your hands.

Mix the zest and sugar together, squeezing the zest to release its juice into the sugar. Combine this mixture with the lemon juice.

For the strawberry base: In a pan, combine sugar, strawberries, and 1/3 cup of water.

Simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the strawberries break down and thicken into a syrup. Strain out the seeds and let the mixture cool.

Once cooled, blend the strawberry base with the lemon base and sparkling water. Serve over ice cubes and enjoy.
