Southern Railway revises Madurai Division train routes in Dec 2024 for maintenance. Trains diverted with altered stops; one rescheduled by 2 hours.

Southern Railway has announced several changes to train services in the Madurai Division for December 2024, due to Fixed Time Corridor blocks for asset maintenance.

Several trains will be diverted, while one will be rescheduled, as per Financial Express.

Diverted Trains

16848 Sengottai–Mayiladuthurai Express: This train will depart from Sengottai at 7:05 am on December 3, 5, 7, 19, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 30, and January 3, 6, and 8. It will run via Virudhunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, Pudukkottai, and Tiruchirappalli, skipping stops at Kalligudi, Tirumangalam, Tiruparankundram, Madurai, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul, Vadamadura, Vaiyampatti, and Manaparai. However, extra stops will be added at Manamadurai and Karaikkudi.

16352 Nagercoil–Mumbai CST Express: Leaving Nagercoil at 6:15 am on December 19 and 26, this train will also take the diverted route. It will skip Madurai and Dindigul but add a stop at Manamadurai.

12666 Kanniyakumari–Howrah Express: Departing Kanniyakumari at 5:50 am on December 21, this train will follow the same route, with similar changes.

16128 Guruvayur–Chennai Egmore Express: Departing Guruvayur at 11:45 pm on December 20, 25, and January 2 and 5, this train will skip stops at Madurai, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul, and Manaparai. An extra stop will be added at Manamadurai.

Rescheduled Train

22631 Madurai–Bikaner Express: This train, initially scheduled to leave Madurai at 11:55 am on December 26, will now depart at 2:00 pm, delayed by 2 hours and 5 minutes.

With this, we aim to meet the customer expectations in the segment.”
