The Gurugram Metro project is moving into its second phase, stretching from Sector 9 to Cyber Hub.

To make sure that both metro users and road commuters benefit, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has asked the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to share designs and documents for five new structures – a mix of flyovers and underpasses.

These will help ease traffic flow during and after metro construction, ensuring smoother movement across busy junctions. While GMRL will build them, the cost will be covered by GMDA, as per Hindustan Times.

Where Will These Structures Be Built?

According to the plan, the city will see major upgrades at key points:

  • A flyover at Sector 3A-4-5 Chowk on Railway Road
  • An underpass from Railway Road to Sheetla Mata Road in Sector 5
  • An underpass from Bajghera Road towards Sector 5 at Krishna Chowk
  • A flyover at Rezang La Chowk
  • An underpass on Old Delhi Road towards Udyog Vihar from Sushil Aima Road

These are in addition to an integrated underpass-cum-metro station at Bakhtawar Chowk, already approved under Phase 1.

How Much Will It Cost?

The total estimated cost for these structures is around Rs 350 crore, and the state government has already approved the plan.

Meanwhile, Phase 1 of the Gurugram Metro, from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, has already been awarded to a joint venture between Dilip Buildcon and Ranjit Buildcon for Rs 1,277 crore.

What’s Next?

A senior GMRL official confirmed that the tendering process for Phase 2 has begun and will soon be floated. In preparation, geotechnical surveys are already underway. These involve soil testing, borehole drilling, and water table analysis to ensure strong foundations for the metro line.

With Phase 2 in motion, Gurugram is set to see not just a faster metro but also better-connected roads, giving commuters a much-needed breather from traffic chaos.
