Civil Aviation Ministry Seeks Report from Air India Express on Flight Cancellations Issues

The ministry has asked the airline to resolve the issues, and facilitate the passengers as per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DCGA) rules.

Amid continuous flight cancellations by Air Indi Express, the civil aviation ministry finally interfered in the matter, seeking a report from the leading carrier.

The decision by the department comes after witnessing multiple flight cancellations by the airline as a section of crew members filed mass sick leaves. The move has been taken by the staff to protest against Air India Express’ mismanagement, as reported by PTI.

Here’s What Ministery Says

The ministry has asked the airline to resolve the issues, and facilitate the passengers as per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DCGA) rules. It has been reported that the airline has witnessed an overall 90 flight cancellations since Tuesday, leaving all the flyers in chaotic situations.

Official Statement By Air India Express

Reacting to the inconvenience, Air India Express has released an official statement, where its spokesperson said, “A section of our cabin crew reported sick at the last minute, starting last night, resulting in flight delays and cancellations. While we are engaging with the crew to understand the reasons behind these occurrences, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimize any inconvenience caused to our guests as a result.”

In addition, the spokesperson said, “We sincerely apologize to our guests for this unexpected disruption and emphasize that this situation does not reflect the standard of service we strive to provide. Guests impacted by cancellations will be offered a full refund or complimentary rescheduling to another date.”

Social Media Reaction

Ever since the flight operation was disrupted, a section of passengers expressed their anger over social media platforms. While some slammed the company for not providing up-to-the-mark service, some termed the airline as terrible service provider.
