The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has started redesigning the intersection near Deepanjali Nagar metro station, aiming to connect it directly with the NICE Road Cloverleaf Junction.
This new link is expected to significantly ease traffic flow in the area. BBMP is working hard to complete the redesign within a week. However, the new access road may take longer to open due to land acquisition issues.
According to Deccan Herald, M Lokesh, Chief Engineer of BBMP Projects, shared that they’re preparing their part of the land near Mysuru Road’s BHEL Junction for the NICE Road connection. “The actual road construction will be managed by NICE (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise),” he noted.
Ashok Kheny, Managing Director of NICE, mentioned that the planned link from the cloverleaf junction on Outer Ring Road to Mysuru Road will cover about one kilometer. “We have 60 percent of the land needed and are waiting for the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) to hand over the last 400 meters. The compensation for this section was paid nearly a decade ago,” he added.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had previously directed officials to prioritize this connectivity project to reduce congestion on the Outer Ring Road.
