Meanwhile, the company is also in talks to bring other international sportswear and athleisure brands to India.
Ambitious plan
Abhishek Ganguly, Co-founder & CEO, Agilitas Sports told businessline, “We have an ambitious plan for brand Lotto. We have begun with the launch of sneakers but we will gradually be introducing a wide range of product assortment across performance and athletic leisure footwear, apparel and accessories.”
“We will have a multi-channel approach with a strong presence on the online channel through our own site as well as key e-commerce marketplaces besides quick commerce platforms. At the same time, we will be launching the brand across national and regional department stores and retailers. We will also be launching our mono brand retail stores. Initially we plan to open about 10 stores in the March quarter. So by early next year, the brand will have a presence across 350 retail stores,” he added.
Lotto’s entry into India comes at a time when the sportswear segment is witnessing double-digit growth. The sector’s growth is being driven by increasing health-consciousness, sporting culture as well as premiumisation trends.
“We believe Lotto has the potential to become a ₹1,000 crore brand in India over the next five years. We also have aggressive plans to open 100 mono brand stores over the next 2-3 years to drive this growth,” Ganguly added.
Exclusive rights
The company, which acquired footwear manufacturer Mochiko in 2023, said that nearly 80-85 per cent of the products for Lotto will be made in India. It has set up a separate factory and R&D facility for the brand in India. “We will also be exporting Lotto products to markets such as South Africa and Australia, ” Ganguly explained. Agilitas holds exclusive rights to distribute brand Lotto in India, South Africa and Australia.
Responding to a query on future growth plans, Ganguly said: “We are in talks with other international brands as India shapes up into a fast growing market for sportswear segment.”
